With 39 years of experience in the health care industry, Rose Rivera, CMA, C.Ph., has established a strong reputation for her unmatched skill set and knowledge. She has spent the majority of her career working in various health care settings and recently decided to draw on her experience and knowledge to teach up-and-coming professionals at Lorain County Community College.
Ms. Rivera was inspired to enter the teaching profession when an instructor recommended she pursue a career in the field. As an adjunct faculty member, she is responsible for coordinating with students in the medical laboratory, and assisting students in taking vital signs and performing blood tests. Ms. Rivera also lends her talents to Erie Coast Chest Physicians where she prepares medical charts for patients.
Prior to attaining her current positions, Ms. Rivera worked at Elyria Memorial Hospital, Cleveland Clinic, and Tri-County Medicine. She also dabbled in other fields, working for Plastic Enterprises, Inc., Q-Panel, May National Bank of Ohio and Emerson Network Power, where she held an assortment of positions over a three-decade span.
A medical assistance and coding expert, Ms. Rivera attributes her success to the support she receives from her husband and from her mentor, Ms. Cindy Watkins. She is a certified proficient phlebotomist and certified medical assistant who excelled in the classroom. Her educational credentials include:
- Associate of Applied Science, concentration in medical assistance and clinical studies, Lorain County Community College (2008)
- Associate of Applied Science in Medical Administration, Lorain County Community College (2007)
- Associate of Arts in Business, Lorain County Community College (1981)
Looking toward the future, Ms. Rivera would like to continue educating students and become a full-time instructor in pharmacology, medical coding or medical assistance studies.
