With a passion for adventure and the outdoors, David Pinel started working for West Coast Expeditions in 1997 as the lead guide and operations manager and, in 2008, he became the co-owner. West Coast Expeditions explores the beauty of Canada through offering customers a wide range of sea kayaking tours and wilderness retreats.

Mr. Pinel is recognized and well-respected for his knowledge of coastal ecology, wilderness etiquette and sea kayak instruction, which enables customers to learn about their surroundings while staying safe. His knowledge and experience also allow him to forge lasting relationships with aboriginal communities and develop key industry partnerships. Mr. Pinel takes his job very seriously and is dedicated to providing customers with the highest quality services. In his position, he is responsible for handling the company’s finances and operations, as well as overseeing community relations, industry relations, and program development and delivery. Mr. Pinel also acts as a guide and leads boat operations.

Aside from his work at West Coast Expeditions, Mr. Pinel coordinates and teaches in the adventure guide certificate program at North Island College.  He is also a planning, leadership, and organization development consultant who specializes in working with First Nations and remote communities.

Mr. Pinel earned an international baccalaureate, Master of Science in rural planning and development, and a bachelor’s degree in science and anthropology. Additionally, he is a certified SKGABC guide examiner and trainer, commercial vessel operator, SVOP, MED A3, ROC (MC), and is certified in advanced wilderness first aid.
