Dedicated to assisting others in succeeding, Don Carmichael pursued a career where he could work in a community service capacity and support others. For the past decade, he has been working for the Government of Alberta as a career and employment consultant in the Alberta Human Services Department. The department provides people with a wide range of human services, programs in abuse and bullying, adoption, disability services, family and community, financial support, foster and kinship care, guardianship and trusteeship, homelessness, newcomer services, and career services.
In his role, Mr. Carmichael draws on his career counseling and development skills, as well as his leadership development knowledge to work with clients. He is tasked with providing career counseling and development services, facilitating workshops, providing resume writing services, coaching and job search strategies for the government and nonprofit organizations, fostering leadership development, community development, outreach and engagement, overseeing conflict resolution, program development, and policy analysis, and conducting public speaking engagements.
Mr. Carmichael intends to continue utilizing his skills and knowledge to assist others and would like to get more involved in mentoring others in years to come.
