Donald B. MacDonald found that finance fit his skill set perfectly and made the decision to pursue a career in the field. Mr. MacDonald has more than 30 years of professional experience to his name, as well as extensive experience in the investment business. He is recognized for his leadership capabilities and business development skills, and draws on these qualities to fulfill his responsibilities at 1832 Asset Management L.P.
Mr. MacDonald joined the wealth management firm in 1997 and steadily progressed throughout the company’s ranks. He was initially in charge of building the national operations of the division, but now focuses on providing investment management services to small institutions, businesses, and multi-employer pension plans. He also oversees client service, business development, and operations at the firm. He attributes his success making quick decisions, thinking outside of the box and having a definitive perspective when working with startup businesses. Looking toward the future, Mr. MacDonald aims to build the business, and integrate and expand the boutique nature of the business.
Mr. MacDonald earned a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Manitoba, is a certified investment manager and is a chartered finance analyst. He is also a fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute.
