Due to her passion for learning, interest in working with young people, and desire to help them advance through education, Dr. Josephine Boyd Bradley made the decision to dedicate her career to academia. Dr. Bradley has garnered 25 years of experience in the field and has spent the past 16 years as a professor at Clark Atlanta University. An expert in African-American studies, she teaches classes on African-American education and women’s spirituality while overseeing the Department of African-American Studies. Throughout her career, Dr. Bradley has worked with more than 50 students on their thesis statements and dissertations. Dr. Bradley is a respected leader at the university who attributes her success to her persistence, education, creativity and ability to solve problems. Looking toward the future, she intends to retire and write academic-related curriculum for children with reference to historical events. Dr. Bradley earned a Ph.D. in American studies and holds a certification in women’s studies. She stays abreast of changes in her field through her affiliation with the Association of Social and Behavioral Scientists and National Council for Black Studies.
